We're Off to France to Visit Lagu for the First Time!

We’re heading to France to witness the birth of Lagu - the dopest sailing catamaran ever built! We have been counting down the days until we set sail, and we can't wait to step foot aboard our new home.

December 1st, our bags are packed and our epic journey to the other side of the world begins. Before heading to the factory, we will be attending the Paris boat show where we will get to see Lagu’s French cousins all dressed up and ready for presentation. On December 7th, it’s off to the factory in Belleville sur Vie to see Lagu before he is motored to Holland (yes, Lagu is a boy).  There, he will be loaded onto a freighter and shipped through the Panama canal and up the west coast to Canada. Early March 2012, Lagu will complete his long journey at Granville Island, Vancouver, BC.  We will be sure to get loads of pictures of baby Lagu in the womb for you!

Of course, we will also be exploring the rest of France while we're there.  It will definitely be a fun challenge finding gluten free food in the croissant capital of the world. We’ll be sure to post any noteworthy spots. Obviously though, I will have to have a pain du chocolate at least once a day. I can’t deny myself that pleasure! Come to think, we've also heard of a place there that makes the most amazing macaroons. We can’t pass up those either. Okay, okay, so maybe we will cheat on our gluten free, dairy free diet.  You only live once, right?

One last thing, if you haven’t already, check out our about page for info on Lagu and what this blog is all about. Happy sailing!

Wow, that experience sounds like heaven! I'm curious about the name/word Lagu...did some Googling just now and learned a lot about Indonesian music and a near-extinct language...or maybe it is just short for Lagoon ;) Whatever it means, thank you for the chance to live vicariously through your journey :)

Yeah, the name came about by accident and then subsequently turned out to be just perfect. We first saw a Lagoon Catamaran with canvas covering the "n" so all we saw was Lagoo and called it that. The name stuck. Then, when it came time to name our own Lagoon we realized that "Lagu" was perfect and had some interesting meanings in other languages. Here's a definition I thought was rather neat: "That has hit, touched, reached, attained unto, arrived at, come home unto; that has succeeded, has become effectual, has not failed or missed;--as a thing, effort, or measure directed to an object, a power to an end."

Lagu is a state-of-the-art Lagoon 450 catamaran. I live aboard spending my days sailing the seas, exploring nature, and dancing to sweet beats. Lagu is self-sufficient, off the grid, and eco-friendly as much as possible. Of course, I also work remotely to support my lifestyle. Come along, let's have a laugh and enjoy the world together!
