About Lagu

I chartered a Lagoon catamaran and quickly fell in love.  I had spent many years sailing monohauls and loved sailing, but suddenly was on a sailboat that had endless space, first-class amenities and comfort not typical of a sailboat.  Lagoon seemed to have found the perfect combination of a powerboat and a sailboat so thought, 'wow I could live on this!'

I started to imagine a new future: living aboard a catamaran; exploring the world; living a lifestyle that was closer to nature, irrespecive of time or place; and full of new experiences, meaningful friendships and passion.  And so Lagu was born.

Lagu is my Lagoon 450 catamaran built December 2011 at Belleville sur Vie, France. I travelled to France to find Lagu at the factory and followed him as he was shipped to Vancouver, BC, where I moved aboard and began my great adventure!  I am currently sailing the BC coast and gaining experience before I head abroad.

I plan on spending several years cruising my own beautiful neighbourhood: the Gulf Islands, Vancouver Island, Desolation Sound, the Broughtons, and the Inside Passage.

I hope to venture further afield to Hawaii and the south pacific islands such as Tahiti, Fiji, the Cook Islands, Vanuatu.  I would then sail the Caribbean Sea visiting places like the Grenadines, Grenada, Barbados, St Lucia, Anguilla, the British Virgin Islands, and the Bahamas.  My travel plans will take in to account all the potential risks like weather, hurricane areas, seasons, etc.

While I visit these locations I plan to blog about my experiences onboard and ashore including the places I explore, the marinas, anchorages, resorts, and hidden coves I stay, the best places to hike, surf, fish and forage food, my equipment, gear, games, mishaps, and sailing experiences, plus the ongoing maintenance and upgrades I do to Lagu.  I hope my blog is informative, entertaining and inspires you to come visit me on the sea!
